Also known as common sage, this plant has a long history of medicinal and culinary use. It's great for flavoring meat, cheese, and bean dishes as well as laying on the grill to flavor meat with it's savory and peppery-scented smoke. This is an attractive shrubby evergreen plant with beautiful mauve flowers. It grows in a bush-like habit with thick rosette stems and dusty green-grey foliage. Can be slow growing and take up to three years to reach mature size.
